Rosemont Reminder | October 26 - 30, 2026

Halloween at Rosemont

Kindergarten students are invited to wear costumes on Thursday, October 29, and Grades 1-6 students and staff on Friday, October 30. Please choose respectful, school-appropriate costumes that allow students to sit comfortably, participate in gym, and enjoy outdoor recess. Masks, replica weapons, and costumes depicting violence, alcohol, drugs, or offensive stereotypes are not permitted. Costumes are optional; orange and black, school spirit wear, or a favourite T-shirt are welcome!

Rosemont’s Pumpkin Patch

On Friday, October 30, families are invited to bring a carved or decorated pumpkin to the naturalization space at the front of the school. Classes will visit the pumpkin patch throughout the day to admire the creative designs and enjoy fun learning activities. Please pick up your pumpkin at our 1:10 p.m. dismissal.

Indoor and Outdoor Footwear

Please ensure your child has indoor shoes and outdoor shoes or boots suitable for the weather. As the seasons change, students need to remove their outdoor footwear when entering the school and change into indoor shoes to help keep our floors clean and free of debris. Thank you for your support with this!

Veterans Food Bank Collection: November 2-27

At Rosemont School, we believe in “Strength in Community.” From November 2-27, we invite families to donate non-perishable food items to support the Veterans Food Bank and give back to our veteran community.

As a UNESCO school, we explore the question, “How do we live in a good way?” This initiative helps students put compassion, gratitude, and responsibility into action by caring for others in our community.

As we gather for our Remembrance Day assembly on November 10 as a school community, students will learn about and honour the service and sacrifices of veterans. Every donation, big or small, can make a difference. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Early Years Literacy and Numeracy Screeners

As part of the ongoing work to support student learning, families of students participating in the Early Years Literacy and Numeracy Screeners (Gr. 1-5) will receive their child's screening results on Wednesday, October 28. Results will be generated, printed, and distributed to parents/legal guardians through the school. These screeners provide valuable information about students' early literacy and numeracy development and help schools identify strengths and areas where additional support may be beneficial. The Calgary Board of Education's School Improvement team will be sending additional information directly to families to help explain the purpose of the screeners, how the results are interpreted, and how the information is used to support student learning. We encourage families to review the information when it arrives and reach out to their classroom teacher if they have any questions.

School Council and Fundraising Society – Next Meeting: Tuesday, November

Our next school council meeting will be on Tuesday, November 17 from 6:30-8:00 in person, at Rosemont School. We hope to see you all there.
