Rosemont Reminder
September 14–18, 2026
School Orientation Night: Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who came out on Thursday evening for our School Orientation Night. Your presence and engagement made the event a wonderful success. It was fantastic to connect with so many of you, share our plans for the year, and celebrate the start of a new school year together.
Our next formal conference window to discuss student learning and progress is scheduled for November. In the meantime, please know that you are always welcome to reach out to your child’s teacher by email if you have a question, concern, or would like to connect before then.
We value open communication and look forward to working together throughout the year.
Terry Fox Run at Rosemont School
Students have begun to prepare for the Rosemont Terry Fox Fundraiser Campaign and Run. Grade 3 students will be spearheading the work, along with a Terry Fox Club and opportunities for building running stamina in Physical Education classes.
This year, we are excited to have an ambassador from the Terry Fox Organization coming to Rosemont School to speak with us before our run. It will be part of our annual assembly to kick off the day.
This year’s run will be held in our school yard. Did you know that twice around the perimeter is approximately one kilometre? How far will your child go?
We are collecting Toonies for Terry to help support cancer research up until and including Run Day. You may also wish to donate online and receive a tax receipt for donations over $20.
Please join us for the run from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM, with a bring-your-own picnic lunch for all grades to follow on school grounds. Bring a blanket or use the picnic tables and join us for this special event.
School Safety Reminder
We are so happy to see that families are enjoying the school grounds before and after school. We are also grateful for the support we receive from our families to ensure a safe environment.
We would like to provide a reminder about a few important items.
Dogs Not Permitted on School Grounds
We would like to remind families that, in accordance with City of Calgary bylaws, dogs are not permitted on school grounds.
If you bring your dog during student drop-off or pick-up times, please arrange to meet your child at a location off school property and remain with your dog at all times.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all students and families.
E-Bikes/Bikes and E-Scooters/Scooters on School Grounds
For the safety of our students, staff and families, we would like to remind everyone that e-bikes and e-scooters are not to be ridden on school grounds. This includes the school parking lot, sidewalks, and pathways around the school.
Alberta legislation and local bylaws place restrictions on the use of powered transportation devices in pedestrian areas, and riding these devices around our busy school grounds creates additional safety concerns, particularly during arrival and dismissal times.
We ask that all bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and e-scooters be walked while on school property and that families take extra care when entering and leaving the school grounds.
Thank you for helping us keep Rosemont School safe.
Emergency Procedure Drills
Last week, we practiced important safety drills to help ensure our students know what to do in case of an emergency.
On Wednesday, September 9, we completed our first fire drill. Each school year, schools are required to hold six fire drills and two lockdown drills.
We appreciate your support in reminding students of the importance of staying calm, listening to adults, and practicing safety at school.
The students and staff did an excellent job!
School Council and Fundraising Society
Tuesday, September 15
Our first school council meeting will be held at Rosemont School on Tuesday, September 16 from 6:30–8:00 PM in person.
Please come through the front door if you are attending. We hope to see you all there.
Note: The source lists this section as “Tuesday, September 15,” but the meeting is described in the paragraph as Tuesday, September 16. I have preserved the information while flagging the discrepancy.
