CUPE Local 40 – Welcome Back

On March 20, 2025, the Calgary Board of Education Board of Trustees ratified the collective agreement with Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 40. CUPE Local 40 members, are an important part of our school communities, and have returned to work.

2024-2025 School Planning 

Spring is when all schools receive their annual budgets and determine staffing needs for the upcoming school year. As we begin planning for the 2025-2026 school year, we kindly ask families to inform the school if they plan on attending a different school next year. If you haven’t already, please ensure you complete and return the purple sheet that is sent home each year. 

Grade 6 Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) 

In May and June of this year, Grade 6 students across the province will participate in the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs). Grade 6 Science will not be administered in the 2024-2025 school year. Grade 6 Social Studies PAT will be administered and will continue to reflect the existing Grade 6 Social Studies program of study. Grade 6 Math and Grade 6 English Language Arts and Literature (ELAL) will be administered and will reflect the new curriculum. 

Results from these tests will provide Alberta Education, school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students and the public with information about what students know and can do in relation to provincial standards at the end of Grade 6. Individual Student Profiles (ISPs) are available to schools in the fall of the following year.
