Welcome Back to the 2025–2026 School Year!
Welcome back, we did it! Day one is officially in the books. While it came with a few surprises, your amazing children took it all in stride.
If your child came home with tales of flickering lights, temperamental power sockets, mysterious doors that sometimes worked (and sometimes didn’t), and spontaneous outdoor adventures... they’re not exaggerating, it all really happened.
To clarify: the outdoor transitions were a precautionary safety measure due to fluctuating air quality and building access while work was being completed. At no point was student safety compromised. Staff ensured full supervision and followed all protocols throughout the day. The great news is all the doors are now fully operational, and the building is functioning smoothly.
We were fortunate to have an all-star team of support on site today, including electricians, CBE workers, and even ENMAX, who worked hard behind the scenes to get everything up and running.
It was such a joy to see all our students’ and parents’ smiling faces this morning. The first day of school always brings a mix of excitement and a few nerves, but within minutes, those nerves melted away. It was wonderful to see students settling in so confidently and reconnecting with friends and teachers.
Thank you for your patience, support, and trust as we navigated a truly memorable first day.
Here’s to a fantastic (and well-lit) year ahead.
Safety Reminder: Traffic & Parking
As we settle into the new school year, we want to remind everyone of the importance of following parking and traffic guidelines around the school. Your cooperation helps keep all students safe and ensures a smooth flow of traffic during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
Parking & Stopping:
- Staff Parking: Reserved for CBE staff all day, including drop-off and pick-up times.
 - Bus Loading Zone: Please do not park in the bus loading/unloading areas. These spaces must remain clear for buses to operate safely.
 - Bend Before the Alley: Avoid stopping here as this area needs to stay clear so buses can turn safely.

Walking:
- Use Designated Paths: Students should not walk through the parking lot.
 - Crosswalks Only: Please use the designated crosswalks.

Helpful Hints:
- Walk or bike to school if possible.
 - Park a little farther away and walk to reduce congestion.
 - If you’re arranging for your child to meet you at a designated pick-up spot, please make that plan ahead of time. For younger students, email their teacher to confirm.

Thank you for helping us keep our school grounds safe and accessible for everyone. Your support makes a big difference!
Litter-less Lunch
If your child will be staying at school for lunch, you must register for this supervised program, which is at a cost to parents. Please follow this link or log into your MyCBE account to complete the registration process. As in previous years, we are doing a Litter-less Lunch program. Students will be asked to take home all lunch waste in their lunch kits. This initiative will help to support waste management and help parents become aware of what their child is eating at school each day.
2025-2026 Student Health Plan Forms
Please ensure you complete this form if medication is to be taken at school or if a physical or medical condition may affect the student's attendance at school.
- We are unable to provide any medication to students if we do not have this form on file. This includes any inhalers required for asthma or EPI-pens required for anaphylactic shock from a serious allergy (e.g. nut allergy, seafood allergy).
 - This form must be completed EACH school year.
 - ALL medications are to be stored in the main office, NOT in your child's backpack (including inhalers).
 - Please let us know if you would like us to send home a paper copy with your child. Otherwise, the form may be downloaded here: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/FormsManuals/Student-Health-Plan.pdf.

Bus Students - Change of Plans
To help our staff with bus attendance at the end of the school day, we kindly remind families to inform the office or come directly to the bus line if there is a change in your child’s end-of-day transportation. If your child is biking, walking, or getting picked up instead of taking the bus, it’s important that we are aware to ensure all students are accounted for and get home safely. Thank you for helping us keep dismissal time smooth and secure for everyone.
Transportation Registration
Families are able to register for school bus service for the 2025-2026 school year. Registration is available using your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, learn how to create one.) For those families who register after the June 8 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus. Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.
Scooter/Bike Important Update
We would like to remind everyone that for the safety of all students, riding bikes, skateboards and scooters on school grounds during school hours is not permitted. This policy helps prevent accidents and ensures a safe environment for everyone during school hours as they arrive and leave at the end of the day.
Please encourage your child to walk their bike or scooter once they reach the school premises (bottom of the hill). We appreciate your support in reinforcing this important safety measure.
Please provide your child with a tire lock so that they can lock any bikes or scooters at the bike locks at the front of the school.
Orientation in Your Child’s Classroom
Save the date: Thursday, September 11
We are excited to invite you to an upcoming classroom orientation! During this time, teachers will share the year plan, highlight exciting opportunities such as field trips, and provide important updates on the new curriculum and other essential information.
Orange Shirt Day – Friday, September 26
Please join us in wearing orange on Friday, September 26. Students will spend time learning about the history of the residential school system and will honour Indigenous people in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Tuesday, September 30.
Emergency Lunches
Are you struggling to provide a lunch for your child? If food scarcity is an issue for your family, please contact the office, and we will ensure that your child receives a healthy lunch each school day. Rosemont School is grateful to be supported by the Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids charity, who deliver healthy lunches to us twice a week.
Lunch Supervision Service Fee
The Lunch Supervision fee applies to all students in Grades 1 through 6 who stay at school for lunch. Please log in to your MyCBE account to register your child for this service. Please call the office if you require assistance with registration or if you have any questions.
Concerned That You Cannot Afford to Pay School Fees?
No child is ever denied access to an education at the CBE due to their family's inability to pay. The CBE offers a Central Fee Waiver which is based upon income level and covers the following central fees: Yellow School Bus Transportation, Lunch Supervision Service and Student Supplies fee. Please log into your MyCBE account to complete the 2025-2026 Central Fee Waiver Application or contact the office for assistance.
Thank you,
Rosemont Office Team
